Coastal Hospice affirms life. Hospice exists to provide support and care for persons in the last phases of incurable disease so that they might live as fully and comfortable as possible. Coastal Hospice recognizes dying as a normal process whether or not resulting from disease. Coastal Hospice neither hastens nor postpones death. Coastal Hospice exists in the hope and belief that, through appropriate care and the promotion of a caring community sensitive to their needs, patients and families may be free to attain a degree of mental and spiritual preparation for death that is satisfactory to them.
As Coastal Hospice Care Physicians, we believe that patients and families should receive quality, comprehensive palliative medical care.
As Coastal Hospice Care Nurses, we believe that patients and families should maintain as much normalcy and comfort in their lives as possible through our providing and/or teaching appropriate pain management symptom control protocols and personal care techniques while understanding that the ultimate decisions of care are made by the patient and family.
As Coastal Hospice Care Social Workers, we believe that patients and families should be provided in-depth counseling when appropriate, so they may maintain an optimum level of physical and emotional functioning while understanding that most individuals are connected to other persons by heredity or environment and may or may not have viable loving relationships.
As Coastal Hospice Care Certified Nursing Assistants, we believe that patients should be provided comfort and support through receiving personal care services which allow a patient to maintain his/her dignity while understanding that the family members need assistance in caring for the patient.
As Coastal Hospice Care Chaplains, we believe that patients and families should have their spiritual needs met, as requested, regardless of creed, race, or background, through all appropriate rituals and symbols of faith in addition to having a community of caring persons that will give support and comfort.
As Coastal Hospice Care Volunteers, we believe that patients and families should have their non-medical needs met, when appropriate, by providing such services as companionship, transportation and errand assistance while understanding that friendship, support, and compassion are essential human needs for patients and families living each day as fully as possible.
